Note: You may choose a size smaller for a standard fitting style.
If your bust measured at 39", you may choose size M (garment bust at 40") for a fitting style. If you prefer a little looser fit, size L (garment bust at 42") will fit nicely with a little more room at the bust.
E.g. A fitting silhouette will have a smaller allowance at 1" (garment size M bust 40"- body bust 39").
